Clough’s Asset Services Business, e2o Asset Services, Awarded Additional Shutdown Scope for Newcrest in PNG

Clough is pleased to announce that their asset services business, e2o Asset Services, (through Clough Niugini) has been awarded the Electrical & Instrumentation shutdown scope at Newcrest’s Lihir Gold project on Lihir Island, 900 kms from Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

The award expands on the scope secured in November 2021 and the asset services team will work with Newcrest to prepare, plan, schedule, execute, close out and improve the delivery for Electrical and Instrumentation services throughout the entire site for major planned shutdowns.

The shutdown execution works include (but are not limited to) planned maintenance work, corrective work and project improvement works.

The site’s planned shutdowns are completed every March and September. Work will commence immediately with the next shutdown planned for September 2022.

Peter Bennett, Clough CEO and Managing Director, said: “Clough has a long and successful history in PNG with over 40 years delivering value to our clients while creating opportunities for local talent, business and the community at large.”

Brent Maas, Clough Vice President Services for QLD and PNG, said: “We are proud to expand on our services with Newcrest, a client we look forward to supporting long into the future. This award also allows us to further invest in the PNG community and ensures we continue to make a positive impact.”

Newcrest creates economic value for PNG and local communities including direct revenues from operations, investments in public infrastructure and services, support of local suppliers, and a range of indirect economic benefits. Approximately 4,500 people are employed at Lihir which has a combination of residential and fly-in-fly-out personnel, around 90 per cent of employees are Papua New Guineans.
