Congratulations to Maria Standley, Clough Piping Field Engineer, on the award of the 2021 National Academy of Construction (NAC) Scholarship, in Houston, Texas.

Maria is one of 5 students nationwide to receive the scholarship and will be recognized at the NAC Annual Conference in October in Colorado.

Maria is Junior at the University of Houston (UH) and is studying construction management with a focus on industrial construction with a minor in business administration. Maria chose the construction industry because she knows diversity is the key to making a difference in a primarily male-dominated field.

At UH, she participates in the student chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). Her association with ABC has allowed her to network with industry professionals and with fellow students pursuing similar interests. She has also led the development of UH’s Cougars for Women in Construction chapter with guidance from the National Association for Women in Construction, an effort she found extremely rewarding.

Maria is currently based on the Project Traveler work site in Pasadena, Texas, and has been part of Clough’s North America team since February of 2019.
