Advisor - Environmental

The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world. 

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purpose of the Role

The Environment Advisor is accountable for the day-to-day governance of site-based environmental management activities and providing support to the construction team to ensure that Future Generation Joint Venture (FGJV) maintains a robust Environmental Management System for all personnel, in accordance with the approved Environmental Protection License, Conditions of Consent Environmental Management Strategy and Environmental Management Plans and client specifications.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualifications in environmental management or related field
  • Drivers Licence
  • White Card

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the construction industry in a similar role is desirable
  • Experience in the development and implementation of environmental management systems and plans

  • Building strong working relationships with construction personnel, client and stakeholder representatives to achieve sound environmental outcomes
  • Sound decision making abilities in line with environmental approval and management system requirements
  • Genuine commitment and proactive approach to environmental management and procedures

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional knowledge and ability in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Meticulous attention to detail

 

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and support to the construction management team to ensure compliance with statutory, FGJV and client environmental obligations.
  • Implementation of the Environmental Management Strategy, EMPs and subsidiary systems documentation.
  • Communication of HSSE issues and standards.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the area environmental inspections and audit schedules.
  • Undertake and participate in environmental inspections and initiatives, including but not necessarily limited to:
    • Weekly internal, pre-and-post-rainfall inspections and client environmental inspections.
    • Internal, SHL & External Environmental Audits.
  • Liaise with the area Environment support crew and Environmental Water Advisors to ensure they are properly resourced to implement and maintain the site based env controls. Assist in identifying environmental training requirements.
  • Assist with the close out of all environmental actions raised.
  • Escalate critical environmental issues.
  • Ensure all environmental incident events and investigations are properly conducted, recorded and information closed out in accordance with FGJV reporting timeframes.
  • Promote a dynamic and positive environmental culture focused on achieving success.
  • Support other interdepartmental teams as required (Environmental Water Advisors and Environmental Support Crew).
  • Undertake additional tasks, as directed by the Environmental Manager, Environmental Coordinator, or Environmental Superintendent, to support FGJV’s project HSSE goals and values.
