Engineer - Precast

Purpose of the Role:

To be responsible for all engineering and technical disciplines that the project involves. The purpose of the role it to  schedule, plan, forecast, resource and manage all the technical activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Civil Engineering
  • White Card
  • Current Engineer license
  • Driving License

Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working in the Construction Industry in a similar role – preferred
  • Experience working with Tier 1 firms or on similar scaled projects
  • Previous experience working in a precast facility is highly favoured
  • Experience working on large scale construction projects or other suitable projects works
  • Experience in basic use of Microsoft Office Suite, data and file recording.
  • Excellent knowledge of design and visualisations software such as AutoCAD

 

Required Competencies:  

  • Sound knowledge of local WHS standards and regulations
  • Ability to supervise team members, produce method statements and work closely with safety and other departments to control and maintain project safety standards
  • Demonstrate a positive “can-do” attitude.
  • Ability to lead and manage teams
  • Demonstrate initiative and creative problem-solving skills
  • Practical knowledge and understanding of computers and Microsoft software packages.
  • Good communication skill, both oral and written
  • Self motivated.
  • Mechanical or Electrical Trade background
  • Ability to implement and follow through on multiple issues and to achieve productive results
  • Sound interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Ability to work to deadlines and targets and can prioritise tasks under pressure
  • Good organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • The ability to work quickly, effectively and positively in a demanding environment
  • The ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills             
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills, competent using maintenance systems
  • Ability to drive performance and the lead a team.

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Construction Department in the coordination of the efficient operation of a multi-discipline workforce combining direct workforce, supplementary labour, and external subcontractors.
  • Coordinate and ensure compliance of all relevant design, safety, quality, community and environmental and sustainability related deliverables and documentation.
  • Proven working experience as a Project/Site/Precast Engineer
  • Ability to work both autonomously and within a team environment
  • Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards
  • Ability to work with multiple discipline projects
  • Decision making ability and leadership skills
  • Time management and organization skills
  • Self-directed and self-motivated with the ability to handle pressure well to ensure the project’s
  • programmed activities are delivered within the established time targets
  • Strong verbal and communication skills and the ability to write clear and concise English (required)
  • Financial Management, ability to understand budgets and forecasts
  • A strong commitment to compliance and a thorough understanding of Australian WHS, Environment, Quality and Community standards and legislated requirements
  • Skills in construction method development and subsequent programming
  • Contract comprehension, commercial awareness and ability to develop substantiated claims
  • Construction industry knowledge and experience of systems
