The Snowy Scheme is giving a new generation of Australians the opportunity to develop their skills as they build a vital renewable-energy project for the nation. Linking the Tantangara and Talbingo reservoirs, Snowy 2.0 is expected to generate enough electricity to power three million homes over the course of a week and provide 4000 direct jobs over the life of the project.

Meet Stacy Bugeja, Project Engineer for the iconic Snowy 2.0 project! For the past two years, Stacy’s office has been in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains where she is helping build the largest renewable energy project in Australia.

Stacy is featured in the May edition of the Qantas inflight magazine, Travel Insider, inviting travellers to explore career opportunities on the Snowy 2.0 project.

“As a Project Engineer for the plant and equipment department on the Snowy 2.0 Project, I work on the disassembly and reassembly of the tunnel-boring machine (TBM) at Talbingo.

“This TBM is known as Lady Eileen Hudson, and she will be excavating the six-kilometre tailrace tunnel that will feed into Talbingo Reservoir.

“It's been an exciting and challenging project, and I feel like I'm getting right back to the core of my discipline as a mechanical engineer.

“Working on Snowy 2.0 has been a unique experience that I wouldn't get on any other kind of job.

“It's an iconic project, and I love the diversity that comes with it.

“Being a fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) worker has also been a great fit for me. I work two weeks on, one week off, which suits my lifestyle. It's been great to make lasting friendships with my colleagues and feel like we're all in this together.

“I grew up on a property in Queensland, so being remote and away from the city is something I enjoy.

“I'm proud to be a part of this iconic project, and I'm excited to see what the future holds for the Snowy 2.0 project, and it's an honour to be a part of it.”

Snowy 2.0 is an internationally recognised project using engineering innovation to enhance the iconic Snowy Scheme.  Future Generation JV provides work-life balance, FIFO rosters and an air charter program with Qantas with flights from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane to Cooma.
