Australian Workplace Health & Safety Awards finalists - it’s National Safe Work Month, and we’re excited to highlight the Spark North East Link Tunnels D&C team, which was named as a finalist in the 2025 Australian Workplace Health & Safety Awards Best WHS Technology Deployment and Adoption Award for the scabbling gantry - the latest innovation making tunnelling safer and more efficient on North East Link!
Stretching 12 metres long, this acoustic container moves through the tunnel on a custom-built gantry system. Inside, robotic arms are used to expose the concrete arrogate of the tunnel lining to prepare for tunnel roof construction.
Once a high-risk task, this innovation is another example of how we are using smarter ways to deliver safe outcomes as we build the North East Link Tunnels.
