In celebration of NAIDOC Week, members of our team and RAP Working Group had the privilege of attending QV1's exhibition, Animals of Noongar Country, by Perth Nyungar artist Justin Martin of Djurandi Dreaming.

Justin’s artwork brings together the Nynarn (Echidna), Karda (Monitor Lizard), Yonga (Kangaroo) and Waitch (Emu), each carrying its own cultural knowledge, ceremony and connection to Country. Flowing through it all are waterholes, connecting places of significance where knowledge is shared. At the centre, two small handprints represent the future: young hands carrying culture forward.

The exhibition was a meaningful opportunity to learn, listen and celebrate the rich cultures, histories and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples during the 50th anniversary of NAIDOC Week. Thank you to Justin and QV1 for this insightful experience!
