Clough BMD Joint Venture is delivering the procurement and construction for the development of the Darwin Ship Lift Facility by the Northern Territory Government. 

We're proud to share that $58.8 million in subcontracts have been awarded to local Northern Territory enterprises as part of the project.

Local businesses are delivering essential services including:

  • Quarry materials 

  • Surveying 

  • Geotechnical services 

  • Maintenance 

  • Traffic control 

  • Construction equipment 

  • Civil construction

With 58% of the workforce made up of Territory locals, the project isn’t just building infrastructure, it’s building local capability and supporting regional jobs.

The Darwin Ship Lift Facility will position Darwin as a strategic maritime maintenance hub in northern Australia, servicing the defence, energy, pearling, fishing and coastal cruising industries.

About the Project

Clough BMD Joint Venture is delivering the procurement and construction for the development of the Darwin Ship Lift Facility by the Northern Territory Government.

The Ship Lift will be capable of lifting vessels up to 5,500 tonnes, enabling vessels in the defence, energy, pearling, fishing and coastal cruising industries to be serviced in Darwin. 

Upon completion, the Northern Territory Government-owned Ship Lift facility will create hundreds of local jobs within the maritime support sector and contribute significantly to the region's economic growth and stability.
