Strong progress on North East Link - The Spark North East Link Tunnels D&C team is keeping up strong momentum, with key milestones progressing across the project. In the north, crews have completed the base slab for the first level of the Northern Ventilation Structure. Precast wall panels will be installed over the coming month, forming the first section of the completed structure.
In the south, a major traffic switch at Manningham Road and Bulleen Road was delivered ahead of schedule, with Manningham Road now in its final alignment. This milestone enables construction of the interchange entry and exit ramps, which will carry around 14,700 vehicles daily when the tunnels open in 2028.
At Lower Plenty Road, tunnel on-ramp excavation is nearing completion, while smoke duct beam installation continues inside the box. Preparation works are also progressing inside the Manningham Box ahead of the arrival of the TBMs.
Webuild, as part of the Spark Joint Venture, is delivering the North East Link. The project will enable a more sustainable future by taking 15,000 trucks off local roads every day and reducing travel times by up to 35 minutes for commuters. Once complete, it will be the longest road tunnel in Victoria. Read more about the project here.
