Southbound ramp breakthrough achieved - Spark North East Link Tunnels D&C has successfully completed the breakthrough of the southbound ramp in Manningham, a major milestone for the project.
 
To date, crews have excavated more than 100,000m³ of rock and dirt, with just 13,700m³ remaining. 
 
The team is now well positioned to move into the final stages of excavation, bringing the future on-ramp into the tunnels closer to completion. This achievement paves the way for the commencement of base slab works within the southbound ramp.
 
Webuild, as part of the Spark Joint Venture, is delivering the tunnels as part of North East Link. The project will take 15,000 trucks off local roads every day and reduce travel times by up to 35 minutes for commuters. Once complete, it will be the longest road tunnel in Victoria.
