Staying on track at SSTOM! Until March this year, a tamping machine will operate at the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport project’s SSTOM Stabling and Maintenance Facility (SMF) to complete important track geometry works.

The tamping process keeps ballast tracks level, secure and safe by fine-tuning alignment and compressing the rock foundation under the rails. This work forms an important part of preventative maintenance, helping prepare the network for future train services on the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport project.

Webuild, as part of the Parklife Metro Consortium, is delivering the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport Metro Line, Stations, Systems, Trains, Operations and Maintenance (SSTOM) Package.
