Temporary Works Manager

Purpose of the Role:

Leads all aspects of design, coordination, submission, compliance, programming and management of the temporary works maintaining and updating the TW procedure and manage a team of temporary works coordinators.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science, Building Construction or equivalent
  • White Card

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 year of experience working in the construction industry

Required Competencies:  

  • Project Engineer and operational experience
  • A strong understanding of structural and/or geotechnical engineering
  • Knowledge of project management structure, plans, specification, standards and implications for project accountabilities
  • Experience working with Project Design Management Plans, Quality Management Plans, Safety Management Plans and Environmental Management Plans
  • Experience in managing design activities to program and budget specifications
  • Pre-contracts knowledge in relation to design, planning and legislative requirements 
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manage interactions with local, state, and federal authorities for permits and approvals
  • Collaborate with workforce representatives and unions to maintain positive industrial relations and resolve issues proactively
  • Oversee the implementation of environmental protection measures related to Temporary Works, ensuring compliance with environmental standards and minimizing ecological impact
  • Plan and control the delivery of Temporary Works Design to ensure the achievement of quality, completion and project objectives
  • Coordinate and liaise with respective construction teams to develop Temporary Works Design solutions to facilitate the construction of the Permanent Works
  • Actively participate in developing cost optimised and constructable Temporary Works Solutions
  • Manage the design approval process by coordinating issue resolution
  • Ensure compliance of Temporary Works with safety requirements
  • Management of Temporary Works package register, drawings and package numbers, revision control 
  • Manage Temporary Works design consultants allocated to the project to ensure that their progress meets requirements
  • Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment and quality risk assessments to ensure the acceptable quality of structures and finishes
  • Validation of temporary works conducted on site
  • Document and record management
  • Demonstrate sound people management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes.
