Clough is proud to announce it has been awarded the Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (EOCGE) citation for 2023-25 by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA). This citation recognises Clough and e2o and underscores the group’s commitment to fostering a gender-equal workplace, highlighting its dedication to delivering on its diversity and inclusion goals.

Only 115 organisations across Australia have received this citation for the current period, and Clough is amongst the select few in the engineering and construction industry to be honoured by WGEA.

This is Clough’s third EOCGE citation, having first been recognised in 2019, showcasing the business’s ongoing efforts to create a more equitable industry and an inclusive workplace where everyone can reach their full potential.

Peter Bennett, Clough CEO, said: "We are incredibly proud to receive the Employer of Choice citation once again. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team in creating a workplace that champions gender equality. We believe that a diverse and inclusive workforce is key to driving innovation and success, and we remain committed to making meaningful strides in this area."

Mary Wooldridge, WGEA CEO, said: “These innovative employers have implemented evidence-informed solutions to take effective action in their workplaces. In taking action to improve gender equality, the EOCGE employers unlock enormous benefits for their business. Employees are more likely to join and to stay in organisations that prioritise a culture of equality and inclusion. Research also shows that businesses with greater gender balance in leadership roles are more profitable and productive.”

The WGEA EOCGE citation is a voluntary, leading-practice recognition program designed to encourage, recognise, and promote organisations' active commitment to achieving gender equality in Australian workplaces. The criteria for this citation encompass leadership, learning and development, gender pay gaps, flexible working, support for family responsibilities, employee consultation, and prevention of sex-based harassment and discrimination.

Clough’s commitment to establishing a diverse workforce is evident through several key initiatives, including:

  • Reducing its Gender Pay Gap - since 2019, Clough has made significant progress in narrowing its gender pay gap, which was recorded at 29% in 2023. Clough’s goal is to reduce this gap to 28% by 2025.

  • Implementing a Female Leadership Program: Designed to develop and retain key female talent, this program aims to improve the female management pipeline.

  • Providing gender-neutral paid parental leave: Clough provides gender-neutral paid parental leave entitlements to support all employees and encourage shared caring responsibilities.

  • Offering flexible and remote work arrangements: Clough offers flexible work options to help employees balance work and personal commitments.

  • Implementing a Keep in Touch Program: This initiative supports employees on parental leave and helps them transition back to the workplace smoothly.

  • Delivering an industry-leading Family and Domestic Violence Support Program, providing training, education, and emergency support to employees affected by family and domestic violence.

  • Developing the STEM @ Clough Program, encouraging female participation in STEM pathways from an early age to build a strong pipeline of female talent in STEM careers.

  • Partnering with organisations that support gender equity goals, including: WORK180, Pride in Diversity, CEOs for Gender Equity, and Curtin’s Girls+ Engineering Tomorrow Program.

This recognition by WGEA is a significant milestone in Clough’s journey toward a more equitable future. Now, part of the Webuild Group, together the organisation will continue to strive for excellence in gender equality, empowering all people to achieve their highest potential.
