Our Women and Babies Hospital project team were honoured to welcome more than 60 team members and partners to a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony at the project’s Osborne Park Hospital site in February.
The ceremony was performed by Whadjuk Noongar leader Sandra Harben, who welcomed the team onto Whadjuk Noongar boodja and shared the significance of the land on which we are privileged to work.
Holding this ceremony at the commencement of construction is especially meaningful. It recognises that the land has a long and continuing history, one that existed well before our project and will endure long after it. It also reinforces our responsibility to listen, learn and work respectfully alongside Traditional Owners.
As we progress the Women and Babies Hospital project, we remain committed to building strong relationships grounded in respect, collaboration and understanding.
With our parent company, Webuild, we are guided by our Reconciliation Action Plan and committed to delivering on our vision, to enable equal participation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples across the nation-building projects we deliver.
