Senior Electrical Engineer - Commissioning

Clough is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) scope for the Waitsia Stage 2 development in the northern Perth Basin, near the town of Dongara approximately 350km north of Perth and 65km south of Geraldton in Western Australia. The Waitsia Stage 2 project includes a new 250 TJ/day gas processing plant with a 20-year life-cycle that will convey gas via the nearby Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline.

We are currently searching for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join the project. Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, this role is required to provide electrical engineering expertise to the project, and specifically in support of pre-commissioning and commissioning phase activities. You will ensure that all deliverables are completed in a timely manner to the required level of accuracy in accordance with Company procedures, the basis of design, and the terms of the contract. You will ensure that cost effective solutions are applied to meet project objectives.

This role will be based on site, in Dongara on a 14 days on / 7 days off roster. An additional project allowance of 35% will apply while based on site.

Your focus will include:

On Site:

  • Oversee the pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up and performance testing of the designed electrical system for Waitsia which includes gas engine driven generation, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), HV and LV distribution systems and associated end systems and devices.

  • Address engineering related discrepancies, issues with design, etc. supporting commissioning activities on site.

  • Focus on engineering activities to support work planning for upcoming activities.

  • Ensure master file and all controlled drawings are maintained in accordance with blue-line markup procedures.

  • Plan what is needed by way of pre-commissioning and commissioning and liaise with package Vendors and OEMs to support the commissioning team.

  • Oversee the work of any Vendor representatives and sub-contractors engaged on site ensuring activities are in line with design and specified Codes and Standards for the project.

  • Support commissioning in resolving issues as and when necessary in conjunction with the lead electrical design engineer.

  • Supervise and oversee the work of site based electrical engineers.

  • Interface with discipline superintendents, construction and commissioning managers.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Chartered through Engineers Australia (or other professional bodies with mutual EA recognition) – Preferred.

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar role and or capacity.

  • Attainment of competency for Hazardous Area related work (preferred).

  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.

  • Knowledge of Australian and related International Codes and Standards.
