Clough, part of the Webuild Group, has once again been recognised as an Employer Committed to Gender Equality (ECGE) for 2026–2028 by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA).
This marks the fourth consecutive time Clough has received a citation, having first been recognised in 2019. This recognition reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability, and meaningful action to advance gender equality across its operations.
The WGEA Employer Committed to Gender Equality citation is a voluntary, leading-practice recognition program that acknowledges organisations demonstrating a strong and ongoing commitment to gender equality. Assessment criteria include leadership, pay equity, flexible working, employee consultation, and the prevention of discrimination and harassment, and are regularly updated to reflect evolving best practice. This year, 139 organisations nationwide have received a citation.
Marco Assorati, Senior Executive Vice President Operations Oceania Webuild / Executive President, Clough, said the achievement reinforces the importance of sustained focus on diversity and inclusion.
“Being recognised as an Employer Committed to Gender Equality is something we are incredibly proud of. This reflects the consistent effort across our business to create a more inclusive and equitable workplace. While we’ve made meaningful progress, we know there is more to do, and we remain committed to driving positive change within our organisation and across the industry,” Marco Assorati.
Mary Wooldridge, WGEA CEO, said: “Holding the Workplace Gender Equality Citation provides national recognition that Clough is deeply committed to positive action to achieve gender equality in their workplace.”
“Citation holders demonstrate strong gender-equal outcomes at the moments that matter most to women and men at work. They go beyond policy and programs, embedding gender equality into the everyday employee experience.”
Clough takes a structured and proactive approach to improving gender equality across key areas including:
Fair and equitable pay: Role-based remuneration frameworks, annual gender pay gap analysis, and real-time monitoring during remuneration reviews support fair and consistent outcomes. All employees, including those on extended leave, are included in remuneration and promotion processes.
Career pathways and progression: Targeted development opportunities, leadership accountability, and measurable gender equity targets support the progression of women. Programs such as ELEVATE and executive coaching are strengthening the pipeline of future leaders.
Inclusive and supportive culture: Flexible work arrangements, gender-neutral paid parental leave, active employee engagement, and strong ethical frameworks help remove barriers and foster an inclusive workplace. Women-led committees and leadership initiatives continue to drive cultural change.
Diverse talent pipeline: Inclusive recruitment practices, diverse hiring platforms, and partnerships with schools, universities, and industry programs are helping attract and develop more women into STEM and construction careers. These partnerships include WORK180, CEOs for Gender Equity, Girls+ Engineering Tomorrow, It Takes a Spark, Empowered Women in Trades, Future Female Leaders, and the National Association of Women in Construction.
Clough’s commitment to diversity and inclusion remains embedded in its day-to-day operations and reflects a long-standing tradition shared across the entire Webuild Group, which is consistently focused on creating an environment where all employees have equal opportunity to grow, contribute, and succeed.
