There’s major progress underway as crews delivering the Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East project continue transforming the extensive Burwood construction site ahead of tunnelling starting later this year.
SRL East is set to reshape how Melbourne moves. Once complete, the project will improve travel efficiency for more than 80% of Melburnians and is expected to take over 600,000 cars off the road every day — easing congestion, reducing emissions, and making public transport faster and more reliable. When SRL East opens in 2035, a student living in Cranbourne will save 27 minutes travelling to Deakin University by public transport.

As part of the Terra Verde Joint Venture, Webuild is delivering a significant portion of this city‑shaping project. This includes the excavation of two parallel tunnels stretching nearly 10 kilometres between the future Box Hill and Glen Waverley stations, the construction of 39 cross passages, two station boxes, two TBM launch sites, and one intervention and ventilation shaft. The progress in Burwood marks another step toward a connected, sustainable, and future‑ready Melbourne.
