Meet Vinay Ladhani, Construction Management Graduate! Vinay is currently part of the team delivering the Woodman Point Water Treatment Facility Upgrade.

“In my current role, I work closely with the construction team; day-to-day I deliver a wide range of tasks from assisting with the procurement process for the inlet screens, to completing forecasting, developing work packs, and providing key stakeholders with construction lookaheads.

“At the moment, I’m also shadowing the Senior Project Engineer in meetings to gain an overall broader understanding of the scope of work we’re delivering.

“Before this role, I was part of the commercial team for the project, where I supported them in the negotiation and award of subcontract packages. In this role, my responsibilities ranged from assessing the commercial viability of bids, to negotiating subcontract terms and conditions, and assisting in the management of subcontractors throughout the delivery of their packages. 

“Working in the commercial team was really rewarding – I‘d say the biggest highlight of my career so far has been awarding and managing my first package. Being given that level of responsibility early on in my career was a valuable learning experience that really accelerated my understanding of contract management. It gave me the confidence and practical skills needed to take ownership of key commercial tasks.

“This variety of experiences, and the exposure to different areas of the business, is what I enjoy most about our Graduate Program. You get real experience early on and exposure to different areas, which helps build a strong foundation. I’ve been able to rotate through different roles that not only challenge me, but also help me figure out what I’m passionate about.

“I've also had great mentoring from senior team members and have been encouraged to take on more responsibility as I grow. There’s been formal training too, but a lot of the learning comes from being trusted with real tasks and having the support to figure things out as I go.

“There’s a strong focus on both personal growth and wellbeing across the business. Managers check in regularly, and there’s always support available if you need it. The environment encourages open communication, and the structure of the Grad Program ensures you're not just developing technically, but also building confidence, resilience, and balance. 

 “To anyone thinking about applying for our Grad Program, my advice would be to say yes to new challenges, even if it’s something outside your comfort zone. The more you try, the more you learn. Be open, be curious, and don’t be afraid to ask questions!”
