North East Link northern site milestones - At Lower Plenty Road, Spark North East Link Tunnels D&C successfully broke through the northbound ramp from the entrance to the Lower Plenty box, a significant achievement, with excavation on track for completion in the coming weeks.
Crews have also completed the final base slab pour on the southbound ramp, placing 1,100m³ of concrete. This milestone enables ongoing works, including Longitudinal Egress Passage (LEP) installation, painting and gantry installation, ahead of handover to the ME&I team.
Meanwhile, northern surface works are well under way. Crews are progressing the Alternative Motorway Control Centre (AMCC) building, culvert roof slabs, and Greensborough Road drainage installation. The first Cement-Treated Base has also been poured for the permanent Greensborough Road southbound lanes.
Webuild, as part of the Spark Joint Venture, is delivering the tunnels as part of North East Link. The project will take 15,000 trucks off local roads every day and reduce travel times by up to 35 minutes for commuters. Once complete, it will be the longest road tunnel in Victoria.
