Arch pours complete in the SEM tunnels - Spark North East Link has successfully completed all 29 arch lining pours in each of the Sequential Excavation Method (SEM) tunnels, marking a significant construction milestone with a total of 58 final SEM tunnel arch pours completed.

The arch lining forms the tunnel walls and is constructed using the largest tunnel formwork system in the Southern Hemisphere. Each of the two 320-tonne steel gantries supports an impressive 364m³ concrete pour, completed over approximately 18 to 20 hours.

The gantries also pay tribute to Victoria's rich history. One is painted golden yellow, celebrating the state's gold rush heritage, while the other is red, reflecting Melbourne's iconic red-brick industrial legacy.

Webuild, as part of the Spark Joint Venture, is delivering the North East Link tunnels. Once complete, North East Link will remove up to 15,000 trucks off local roads each day. The project will also deliver new community parklands, 34km of new and upgraded walking and cycling paths.
