Assistant - Cost Control

Purpose of the Role:

Participate in cost controlling activities to ensure the best utilisation of the Project’s resources, both capital and labour. These activities will include data and resource analysis, gap analysis and diagnosis, the establishment of cost controller activities and the revision of the Project’s Budget.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Commerce (Major in Economics or Finance) or working towards
  • White Card

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the Construction Industry in a similar role – preferred
  • Basic understanding of Economic principals with regards to production quantity

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel

 

Required Competencies:  

  • Demonstrated ability to develop sound working relationships with operations management in the delivery of value added management information
  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem solving skills
  • A pro-active approach with the capability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to meet deadlines and put in the time needed to get the job done.
  • Possess strong mathematical and computer skills. Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies

 

 

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in conducting Gap Analysis of Cost Control activities
  • Assisting Cost Controller in calculating economic production quantity
  • Assists in the review of the Project’s Budget
  • Assists in the establishment of cost control activities
  • Assist in determining the best utilisation of resources (plant and labour)
  • Assists in Data and resource analysis
