Scope of work

Clough, as part of Acciona Clough Joint Venture (ACJV), was contracted by Main Roads WA to complete the construction of the Great Northern Highway road over rail bridge, the access road, and intersection for the Gudai-Darri mine in the Pilbara region.

The project involved the construction of a 3.6 km of road for the approaches to the bridge over rail, the construction of the bridge over rail, mechanically stabilised earth abutment walls, the T-Roff beam installation for the bridge deck, all associated drainage, pavement and road furniture, the delivery of two bulk earthwork bridge embankments and construction of side road upgrades of the Great Northern Highway and Gudai-Darri Mine Access Road (KMAR) intersection.

The project gave access to the new Gudai-Darri mine for key business through the construction of a new road and new rail line and connected the mine to the existing Rio Tinto Iron Ore rail networks. This allowed for the transportation of iron ore to either Dampier or Cape Lambert.
