Officer - Payroll

Purpose of the Role:

To provide payroll services, advice, queries and support for the project.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant Payroll System Education
  • Diploma in Payroll Services, or other relevant tertiary qualifications - preferred
  • White Card

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry
  • Experience in working with multiple different systems including Roster Space, Microsoft Office Suite, Preceda, SAP and E7 – preferrable

 

Required Competencies:  

  • Ability to interpret Common Law Contracts, Awards and Enterprise Agreements, in particular the SC Hydro Pty Ltd AWU Tunnel and Associated Works Greenfield Agreement 2021 – 2025 and the SC Hydro Pty Ltd AWU and CFMMEU Surface Works Greenfield Agreement 2021 – 2025
  • Good understanding of Australian Accounting Payroll systems – ability to run multiple different payroll runs including Blue Collar and White collar
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines and targets, prioritizing tasks under pressure
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills with a high attention to detail
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Demonstrates accountability
  • Excellent record-keeping and time management
  • Computer and Systems competency

 

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Runs the processing of payrolls for both ‘Blue Collar’ and ‘White Collar’ workforce
  • Payroll preparation and maintenance to ensure all payroll transactions are processed efficiently
  • Collecting, calculating, and entering data in order to maintain and update payroll information
  • Compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and non-taxable wages and reporting on this
  • Resolving Payroll discrepancies
  • Maintaining payroll operations by following policies and procedures
  • Developing ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed
  • Answering payroll queries and monitoring the payroll inbox
  • Interface with Finance and Cost Control
  • Advising and assisting Line Managers when required in order to ensure compliance with the payroll process.
