Scope of work

Clough completed the Design and Construction contract, for pipelines, pumping stations, tanks and reservoirs, which travelled through the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The project consisted of two stages.

Stage 1 comprised of the design and construction of approximately 14 kilometres of above and below ground welded mild steel cement-lined pipe with outside diameters ranging from 292 millimetres to 425.5 millimetres. This stage also included a 1.14 megalitre capacity steel tank, two reservoirs and four line pumping stations.

Stage 2 involved the design and construction of approximately 30 kilometres of pipeline with outside diameter
varying from 177.8 millimetre to 425.5 millimetre. In addition, three steel tanks, three line pumping stations and nine bore pumping stations were constructed.

The project incorporated two significant cost saving developments; the use of ground anchored thrust blocks and large diameter high pressure rubber hose used over very difficult terrain.
