Cost Control Reporting

Purpose of the Role:

The primary purpose of the role is to provide project cost performance analysis for the project team through effective and compliant cost attribution, financial control, and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Commerce, Accounting or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • White Card

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the Construction Industry in a similar role – preferred
  • Experience working on large scale construction projects or other suitable projects works
  • Proven track record in cost control working in an integrated project controls team on infrastructure projects over the entire project lifecycle and knowledge of all project management disciplines, procurement
  • Experience in PEMS, cost allocation, real time cost tracking, variance analysis at the department and project level

Required Competencies:  

  • General knowledge of personnel, inventory, and subcontractor management
  • Proficiency in SAP/ PV2/ PICO
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Ability to work to deadlines and targets and prioritise tasks under pressure
  • Sound negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Strong Initiative and proactive nature
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-developed time management skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Competent and proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word.
  • Ability to learn and use different software systems such as E7

 

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, develop, and implement systems to track and report on actual and forecast costs
  • Ensure that financial policies, procedures, and internal controls are effectively implemented, and a robust financial control environment is in place consistent with FGJV standards as well and Finance processes
  • Ensure alignment of budget, commitment and cost, respecting business rules in relation to financial data validation, monitoring that all payments relate to properly approved contracts, claims and variations following financial delegations and project/program governance structures
  • Ensure a continuous improvement philosophy is applied in maintaining and coordinating budget and cost management systems, to ensure a single source of truth for each element, while encouraging innovation and best practice in cost controls
  • Proactively keep abreast of potential issues, formulate advice and recommendations based on evidence, expertise, options, and implications.
  • Analysis of the variance between estimated and actual costs regarding personnel, inventory and subcontractors on a monthly basis
  • Coordinate and work with the project management team to ensure the expenditures are kept within the project’s budget
  • Ensure expenditures are captured and recorded properly
  • Preparing production statistics
  • Preparing the monthly report
