Electrical Construction Engineer

Clough, as part of a joint venture, is delivering the Project Ceres urea plant, a landmark project for Western Australia. The plant will be the largest in Australia and one of the largest in the world, installing the most sustainable production processes. The project is expected to generate 2,000 jobs during the construction phase, whilst delivering sustained benefits to the local community through career, training and business opportunities.

Clough currently has an opportunity for a qualified Electrical Construction Engineer to join our team on site. The role will be responsible for providing field engineering support during installation of electrical equipment, supporting the construction team on site.

Your focus will include: 

  • Review engineering documents (drawings, single-line diagrams, electrical layouts, cable schedules, termination diagrams) and ensure alignment with site installation requirements.
  • Provide field engineering support during installation of electrical equipment such as MCCs, switchgear, transformers, motors, lighting systems, UPS, earthing and bonding systems, and instrumentation interfaces.
  • Support constructability assessments, identifying clashes, missing information, or technical inconsistencies, and propose engineering solutions.
  • Verify installation compliance with project specifications, engineering standards, vendor documentation, and quality requirements.
  • Conduct and record site inspections, walkdowns, red-line markups, and punch lists, ensuring accurate as-built documentation.
  • Assist in cable routing and coordination, including tray loading checks, cable pulling oversight, and documentation updates.
  • Contribute to technical queries (RFIs/TQs) by gathering field information, clarifying design intent with the engineering team, and preparing supporting documentation.
  • Support electrical testing and pre-commissioning activities such as continuity tests, insulation resistance, loop checks, functional checks, and energization preparation.
  • Ensure HSE compliance in all engineering and construction operations, actively participating in hazard identification and risk mitigation on site.


What you will bring to the team: 

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Up to 5 years of experience in electrical construction, industrial plants, energy, or oil & gas projects.
  • Solid understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals (power distribution, protection, grounding, motors, LV/MV systems).
  • Familiarity with international codes and standards (IEC, AS, IEEE preferred).
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for field engineering issues.
  • Willingness to work on a remote construction site and interact daily with construction crews and subcontractors.
  • Ability to work a 19:9 FIFO rotation to site.
