North East Link milestone at Manningham! Works continue to power ahead for the Spark North East Link Tunnels D&C team in Manningham, with the final base slab pour on the northbound ramp now complete.
Paving the way for the next construction phase, this milestone included:
- 272 tonnes of reinforcement steel
- 956m³ of concrete
Before opening the northbound ramp to construction crews in May, the team will install secondary steel and the Longitudinal Egress Passage (LEP) precast panel, which will provide emergency access to the surface once the tunnels open in 2028.
The ramp will connect the Manningham Cut & Cover box to the SEM tunnel, enabling deliveries via the haul road. The team also recently completed the final plenum slab pour on the southbound ramp, with civils works soon to continue the final bulk excavation.
Webuild as part of the Spark Joint Venture, is delivering North East Link. The project will take 15,000 trucks off local roads every day and reduce travel times by up to 35 minutes for commuters. Once complete, it will be the longest road tunnel in Victoria.
