Our Project Traveler team recently started placing the concrete foundation for the isobutane sphere which is the largest single concrete placement on the project, totaling 1,005 cubic yards of concrete.
The concrete was brought to site by 101 concrete trucks (arriving every 2 minutes on average) starting at 3am and the placing process included two pumper trucks that were able to deliver 150 cubic yards of concrete per hour, taking approximately 7 hours to complete.
Matt Taylor, VP of Operations for North America, said: "The foundations installation work is the first major self-perform construction by Clough on the Project Traveler site, and the sphere foundation continues our Civil crew's very strong performance to-date. This particular logistical challenge took 4 weeks of planning by the team, including developing mitigation plans for weather and traffic and was executed perfectly with zero incidents and zero harm. We are very proud of our entire project team and have set the standard for all our self-perform work to come."
