In 1919, a humble building company called Clough Brothers is formed in Perth, Western Australia, named after its two founders, brothers, John (more popularly known as Jack) and Bill Clough.

The Harbourworks Clough Joint Venture is formed (known as BAM Clough) in 1964. Not long after, it is awarded the materials-handling facility for Hamersley Iron in Parker Point, Western Australia.

Shareholders agree to back a deal where the Clough family ceded control within four years to Murray & Roberts, which acquired 120 million shares to lift its stake from 4.9 to 29.3 per cent.
